poole in the second world war
a brief history of what is still there to this day
ROC Nuclear Monitoring Posts
Now I know what you saying, these aren't second world war, and you would be right. I still wanted to include these in this site simply because they are bunkers, and very interesting ones at that.
During the cold war when there was a high risk of a nuclear attack, the government built Royal Observer Corps bunkers all over Briton to monitor the radiation after an explosion. The idea was that two or three men would be able to live in these bunkers for up to two weeks and monitor the radiation around them.
